Yankee Yarns

In Yankee Yarns, Alton H. Blackington, newspaper writer, photographer, and broadcast personality, told tales of old New England. Stories ranged from efforts to keep the image of Andrew Jackson from the figurehead of "Old Ironsides" when its original figurehead was damaged to ship wrecks, legendary ghosts, and famous New England families. Each episode was 15 minutes long.

The show was so popular that Blackington's "Yankee Yarns" found themselves repeated on the radios and in newspaper stories and lectures. Eventually, Blackington included many of them in a book published in 1954.
