The Stan Freberg ShowThe Stan Freberg Show was a summer replacement for Jack Benny on CBS radio. The show was creative and satirical; Freberg did not shy away from controversial topics, and, likely as a result, the show never attracted a sponsor, In response, Freberg created parody sponsors. Freberg was versatile, creative, and flexible. In a career that spanned seven decades, he explored every aspect of entertainment, from voicing animated characters in movies to comedy albums. A frequent guest on television, he appeared on shows as diverse as The Monkees, The Girl from U. N. C. L. E., and The Weird Al Show. In addition, he brought his love of satire and parody to a number of award-winning advertising campaigns, helping to break that industry out of the deadpan cage of didacticism into which it had imprisoned itself. He orchestrated campaigns for products as diverse as pitted prunes and lawn mowers. To learn more, visit Wikipedia. Series description provided by Frank Bell. |
