The Romance of Helen Trent

The Romance of Helen Trent was one of the longest-lasting radio soap operas, airing from 1933 to 1960 on CBS. Over the years, three different actresses played the lead role, that of a Hollywood fashion designer who achieved success in the film industry, even as lasting happiness in love continually eluded her.

Julie Stevens, the last actress to play Helen, is quoted as saying that she saw Helen Trent as being similar to Edith Head, a leading Hollywood costume designer who won eight Oscars. I remember Edith Head as a frequent guest on Art Linkletter's House Party in the late 1950s.
