Presenting Charles BoyerPresenting Charles Boyer is a half-hour comedy-drama series that aired as a summer replacement on NBC in 1950. It stars Charles Boyer, a French actor who was extremely popular in the U. S., as Michel, a roguish schemer always eager to keep himself well-supplied with wine, women, and song by any means possible, regardless of legality. Each episode opens with Michel, Boyer's character, bargaining to sell the story of one of his underhanded, if not actually felonious, escapades to writer Bart Conway, portrayed by Hanley Stafford (Stafford is best remembered for portraying Fannie Brice's father in Baby Snooks). Michel's schemes, though, are consistently undermined by his own essential decency. His plots usually end up with his unexpectedly and reluctantly befriending someone, usually a beautiful woman, in distress. Throughout, the tales are portrayed with sardonic humor and sly wit.
