Mutual Radio Theater

Mutual Radio Theater started on CBS as the Sears Radio Theater, airing in 1979. In 1980, it moved to the Mutual Broadcasting System, which broadcasts reruns of the CBS shows, plus a few original shows towards the end of its run. Along with the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, it represented one of the last efforts to bring dramatic to American radio networks.

It was an anthology show; each episode was a stand-alone story. Along the way, it was hosted by some of the biggest names in American entertainment of the time, such as Lorne Green, Leonard Nimoy, Vincent Price, Andy Griffith, and Cicely Tyson, and a number of major names of mid-1900s American entertainment appeared in its episodes.
