Murder by Experts

Murder by Experts was a mystery anthology series that aired from 1949-1951 on the Mutual Broadcasting System. It was initially hosted by John Dickson Carr, the dean of locked room mysteries, and later by Brett Halliday, creator of Michael Shayne. Each half-hour show featured a different plot and characters.

The stories were written by David Kogan, who wrote for a number of mystery shows, including Nick Carter, Master Detective, and The Mysterious Traveler. Murder by Experts was distinguished by ingeniously working plugs for other mystery authors into the stories. It fell victim to a combination of lack of sponsor support and McCarthyism, as its principle writers had been active in the Radio Writers Guild, a union which drew the attention the House UnAmerican Activities Committee.
