The Jimmy Durante ShowThe Jimmy Durante Show is a half-hour comedy-variety show featuring snappy chatter, songs, and skits, hosted by that towering figure of early and mid-Twentieth Century popular entertainment, Jimmy Durante. In addition to show regulars Peggy Lee and Arthur Treacher, guests include some of the most famous entertainers and stars of the day, such as Greer Garson, Dorothy Lamour, and Boris Karloff. The show was a continuation of the Durante-Moore Show, which aired from 1943 to 1947, following Garry Moore's decision to leave that program. As The Jimmy Durante Show, the show continued for three more years. Jimmy Durante started his career as an entertainer as a teenager in the 1910s and performed in vaudeville, then moved to movies, radio, and television over a career that spanned six decades. He became instantly recognizable for his large nose, Brooklyn accent, and outlandish puns and non sequiturs. For more about Jimmy Durante, see the All Music website.
