It's Higgins, Sir

It's Higgins, Sir, was a 1951 summer replacement for the The Bob Hope Show on NBC. In the show, an American family inherits an English butler, who comes complete with a set of silver to polish, from a distant, unknown relative. The culture clash between the very English butler and the very average American family is the central source of the comedy.

Harry McNaughton, veteran actor of stage, screen, and radio, portrayed Higgins. Other regulars in the cast included Vinton Hayworth, who some may remember a regular in the later seasons of I Dream of Jeanie, and Peggy Allenby, who also starred in Phyl Coe.

A decade after the radio show, It's Higgins, Sir, was revived for television as Our Man Higgins. It lasted one season.
