Inspector Alleyn

Ngaio Marsh's Inspector Roderick Alleyn (pronounced "Allen") is a gentleman detective (his brother is a baronet) who appeared in 32 mysteries from 1934 to 1982. Marsh is often ranked with Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, and Marjorie Allingham as one of Great Britain's "Queens of Crime." Marsh loved theatre and music and set a number of the novels against those backdrops.

Numerous adaptations of her work have appeared on the BBC. The ones here appeared on BBC Radio 4 in the early 2000's and are repeated from time to time. Learn more at Wikipedia.
