I Hate Crime

I Hate Crime follows the exploits of Larry Kent, an American ex-pat living in Australia. In the mold of other tough-guy detective stories, Kent is a tough talking, hard drinking, chain-smoking wise guy who likes to ogle the "dames."

The show started in 1950, ran for 150 episodes, and became quite popular. It gave rise to a series of novels and novelettes penned by ghostwriters using the "Larry Kent" byline, which, despite being hokey and formulaic, found an audience for several decades. In the novels, Kent eventually returns to the States and continues his career there.
