Hop HarriganHop Harrigan was a 15-minute serial for young audiences featuring the airborne adventures of 18-year old pilot, Hop Harrigan. It was based on a comic book character that first appeared in 1939. The show aired on ABC, then Mutual, from 1942 to 1948. Since the radio show started during World War II, many of its adventures involve the war in some way. In addition to Hop (Chester Stratton, then Albert Alley), recurring characters include Hop's girlfriend, Gayle Nolan (Mitzi Gould), and his mechanic, Tank Tinker (Ken Lynch, then Jackson Beck). As was common with many childrens' shows, audience members could write to the show for premiums and join clubs related to the show. For more information, see Wikipedia.
