Dick Tracy

Dick Tracy was based on the popular newspaper comic strip of the same name. Over the course of its long run (1934-1941. 1943-1948), it was variously a 15-minute or a 30-minute serial, but, for most its run, the quarter-hour format dominated. Over the years, it ran variously on NBC, CBS, Mutual, and ABC. It was targeted towards youngsters and included a fan club which would "meet" in the final minutes of the broadcast.

Characters included Dick Tracy, a police detective; Tess Trueheart, his girlfriend; Junior Tracy, his son of unknown province; and a rotating crew of villains with names such as Wormy and Flat Top. More info at the Wikipedia Dick Tracy page.
