Danger with GrangerDanger with Granger follows the exploits of hard-boiled detective Steve Granger. It premiered in 1956 in the twilight of radio's heyday and lasted about a year on the Mutual Don Lee Network. Granger narrates the stories in the first person and assures us that each is "one of the most interesting cases in my files." The program was typical of its genre, with a wise-cracking detective who has a sympathetic pal on the police force and a newspaper reporter buddy, tough-talking bad guys, and clients who can't stay out of trouble. Conspicuously missing from the formula, though, is the pretty secretary with a secret crush on her boss. The program did not break any new ground, but if you enjoy the genre, you will enjoy Danger with Granger. Unfortunately, none of the episodes I sampled had any credits and I could find no information about who voiced the roles. For more information, see the Old Time Radio Catalog.
