Crime and Peter Chambers

Crime and Peter Chambers tells the adventures of wise-cracking tough guy Peter Chambers, a private detective based in New York City. Chambers, voiced by Dane Clark, finds trouble knocking at his door, often in the form of a beautiful woman. Working closely with his best friend, New York Police Lieutenant Parker, voiced by Bill Zuckert, he pursues the bad guys and solves the crime.

The character of Chambers is based on the protagonist of a series of detective novels by Harry Kane, who also produced and wrote for the radio show (some persons think that same series of novels was the inspiration for Peter Gunn).

There is little about the show to distinguish it from the many other P. I. dramas of the day, other than that the police are viewed as allies, rather than as opponents. If, like me, you enjoy the genre, though, it is a fun listen. The showed aired on NBC in 1954.
