The ClockThe Clock was an ABC anthology suspense series narrated by "Father Time" that aired from 1946 to 1948. It started in New York and later moved to Los Angeles, where it featured some of the cream of the Hollywood crop, including performers such as Hans Conreid and Jeanette Nolan. The move to the West Coast is reported to have been a personnel matter: Director William Spier, who was based in Los Angeles, became available and ABC wanted to take advantage of his talents. The episodes I sampled were well-scripted, voiced and ran about 25 minutes. Notable and refreshing was the absence of organ music, at least in my sampling. In the mid-1950's, Australia's Grace Gibson Productions broadcast a version of the program. For more information, see Wikipedia. Series description provided by Frank Bell. |
