Breakfast in Hollywood

Breakfast in Hollywood was an informal half-hour weekday morning show created and usually hosted by Tom Breneman. When he was absent, guest hosts such as Garry Moore, took over the helm.

The show featured occasional guest appearances by stars such as Andy Devine and Jimmy Durante. Most of the focus, though, was on light-hearted conversations between the host and members of the audience.

The show ran from 1941 through 1948 and aired on NBC, CBS, and Mutual. During its run, it was billed under several names in radio listings across the country, sometimes simultaneously, including Breakfast at Sardi's and Breakfast on the Boulevard. Legend has it that Breneman conceived the show while having breakfast in the Los Angeles Sardi's on Hollywood Boulevard in 1940.
