Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B RidersBobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders was an adventure show set in the entertainment industry's mythological Old West and targeted towards children. Bobby is a 12-year old who inherits the family's Texas ranch, the B-Bar-B, upon the death of his parents. Aided by his faithful ranch hands, Bobby captures criminals, masters marauding animals, and defies desperadoes. The show had two runs. The first, a fifteen minute version, ran from 1932 to 1936; no episodes of that one appear to have survived. The second ran on Mutual from 1949 to 1955, retooled into a half-hour format. The latter became quite popular and spawned spin-offs in the form of a comic book, a television show, and merchandise. The shows here are from the Mutual series. Among the notable performers who voiced parts in the show were Florence Halop, Tex Ritter, and Don Knotts. For more information, see Wikipedia. Series description provided by Frank Bell. |
