Black Flag of the AmazonBlack Flag of the Amazon is a 15-minute serial aimed at the juvenile audience. It follows fictional explorer Harold Noice and his party, which includes two youngsters, Jim and Jean Brady, as they find danger and adventure in the entertainment industry's concept of the Amazon river, including treacherous white men, native peoples both friendly and hostile. The show aired in the 1938 and reflects the prejudices and stereotypes of its times, particularly as regards to the native peoples of South America. In common with many other children's shows of the time, the show encouraged fans to write in for memorabilia, such as rings, buttons, and the like. There was an entertainment figure of the era named Harold Noice who was interested in explorers and exploration, but I was unable to find out whether he was connected to the Black Flag of the Amazon in any way.
