Best PlaysBest Plays started as a summer replacement for Theatre Guild of the Air on 1952 and ended up lasting a full year. Hosted by New York Daily News drama critic John Chapman, it featured hour-long recreations of outstanding Broadway plays such as Camille, Mr. Roberts, and Of Mice and Men; many of the plays it presented were also made into major Hollywood movies. In some cases, the radio parts were voiced by performers from the Broadway stage. After its one year run, the show morphed into NBC Star Playhouse and continued into early 1954.
