The AvengerThe Avenger is a biochemist Jim Brandon, who has invented two devices that assist him in his fight against crime: the Telepathic Indicator, which enables him to capture fragments of thoughts, and the Diffusion Capsule, which renders him invisible. Accompanied by the lovely Fran Collier, he assists the police in their battle against crime. I must say that, though many of the plots border on the silly (something that can be said for many crime shows of any era), I find this a fun listen. It is no coincidence that The Avenger is sometimes referred to as "the poor man's Shadow," as the same person created both characters. Indeed, both shows start with the lead character stating a slogan. In the case of The Avenger, the slogan is, "The road to crime ends in a trap that Justice sets. Crime does not pay." The episodes here come from a show that aired in 1945 and 1946. There was a 1941-1942 show of the same name in which the hero's quality was super-strength. For more information, see Wikipedia.
