Archie Andrews

Archie Andrews was based on the popular character. It features the characters Betty, Veronica, and Jughead, as well as Archie's parents, Mary and Fred, and other characters from the town of Riverdale. The series follows Archie and the gang through a series of high school and family crises, such as disastrous double-dates, automotive mishaps, and being locked out of the house. Archie's somewhat slow-witted father, who has a knack for missing the point, is butt of much of the humor.

The 30-minute series started two years after Archie's debut in comic book Pep and ran from 1943 to 1953, variously on NBC and Mutual. It was the first of many Archie spin-offs which followed on television; most have been animated, but a few have been live-action. In most of them, Archie is portrayed as a teen, but he has also been shown as older or younger than the classic character.
