Ann of the AirlanesAnn of the Airlanes was a 15-minute serial aimed at children. It followed the adventures of Ann Burton, air hostess (today she would be called a flight attendant), Jack Baker, her pilot boyfriend, of Interstate Airlines as they deal with danger in the air and criminals on the ground. The show aired in the 1930s and was syndicated as late as the early 1950s, though the exact air dates of the original series are uncertain. Ann of the Airlanes is thought to have been inspired by the public's affection for Amelia Earhart. It is often erroneously cited as the only show of the era with a female protagonist, but it was one of very few, two others being Kitty Hawk and Angels in Blue. It also bears the distinction of being one of the first radio shows to submit its scripts for copyright. Unfortunately, very few of the original episodes survive.
