Andy GriffithAndy Griffith was major presence in American entertainment, especially in television, for the second half of the Twentieth Century. He is probably best known as Sheriff Andy Taylor of the mythical town of Mayberry, North Carolina, in the Andy Griffith Show and as the lawyer Ben Matlock in the the mystery series Matlock. Taylor had a long and varied career that ranged from the Broadway stage to movies, but television, including a number of made for TV movies, was his primary medium. Though he is best remembered for playing easy-going, country-boy characters, he was a versatile and accomplished actor who could portray a villain as easily as a hero, dramatic roles as easily as comedic ones. Griffith attained his first public notice doing stand-up comedy. This collection features a number of his monologues, in which he puts a down-home countrified spin on serious subjects. Once you listen to his classic "What It Was Was Football." you will never look at football in quite the same way again. For more information, see Wikipedia Series description provided by Frank Bell. |
