All-Star Western TheaterThe All-Star Western Theater was a variety show featuring themes, stories, and skits with an Old West style; it aired from 1946 to 1948. Riders of the Purple Sage, an immensely popular western music group of the mid-1900s, headlined the show. (The group took its name from a novel by Zane Grey.) The show was heavily oriented towards music, sprinkled with tall tales and comedy skits with western themes. The list of guests leaned heavily to actors from westerns, such as Monty Montana and Tim Holt. Occasionally, performers from outside Hollywood's Old West, such as Virginia Mayo and Jerry Colonna, would appear. For more information, see the Radio Archives.
