Academy Award Theater

Academy Award Theater presented half-hour adaptations of "the finest in Hollywood entertainment." Any film was eligible for adaptation as long as long as at least one performer had been nominated for an Oscar. Many of the episodes featured actors and actresses who had starred in the movies featured on the radio show.

The show aired in 1946. It was lavishly produced, but lasted only one season, in large part because of the expensive fees of the Hollywood stars and of the naming rights of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
