A Date With Judy

Judy is a "typical American girl in a typical American family": a mother, a father, and a smart-aleck kid brother. The plots of A Date with Judy revolve around (the entertainment industry's concept of) the typical problems of teenagers and their parents, such as dates, dresses, and ditzy domestic disputes.

A Date with Judy ran from 1941 till 1950, with several teen-aged actresses playing the part of Judy over the years. The show became quite popular and gave rise to a comic book and a movie starring Elizabeth Taylor and Wallace Beery. An attempt to bring the show to television in the early 1950s met with limited success and was abandoned after two years.
