I am mostly a listener. I am 62 yrs old and remember listening as a child to what is now OTR, on a large console radio (bigger than most CRT TVs).
I reconnected with OTR when KNX 1070 in Los Angeles began broadcasting CBS Radio Mystery Radio (in the early 70's?). I also listened to much OTR over NPR (National public radio) on Saturdays and Sundays. I was a fairly constant listener to KNX 1070 OTR until the rash of big fires in California several years ago when CBS, enamored with broadcasting news during the 9-10pm hour, decided to drop OTR in favor of NEWS.
I now listen to OTR on an iPod Shuffle (2nd gen, 1GB) loaded via Windows Explorer, and managed with a Python script (rebuild_db, Google). I listen while walking (for exercise after midnight, when it is cool, not smoggy, and quiet).
I have more than 130GB of OTR shows, and am still collecting, but spend far more time listening than collecting. |
