Hey Mystery Theater Friends,
I've belonged to the Club for years; and, just now figured out there is an associated forum. Well, at least I admit my attention deficit or just plain stupidity. Anyway, I love CBS Mystery Theater and have listened to many "theater similar" shows. I am looking for another great show stopper series. Any advice? Thanks muchly Laughing

Three shows come immediately to mind, two classic and one fairly contemporary. The classic shows are the Inner Sanctum Mysteries, which Himan Brown did back in the 1940s and largely based CBSRMT's format on, and the long running series Suspense, which ran from the 1940s to the early 1960s. A more recent show is Nightfall, which was produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Company in the early 1980s.

Yep and some series started out just in a small listening area and later grew be very popular on the air waves. I believe the Lone Ranger was one such series. Some even got started almost by accident. Like the Shadow for example. He started out as just the announcer for the story of the evening but everyone wanted to hear his adventures (and buy the shadow magazine which didn't exist yet) so he became a radio icon though he wasn't meant to be. Some of the stories behind the OTR programs are almost as interesting as the programs themselves I think.
