Mike Y. sent us in a bunch of Charlie Chan shows. These are hard to find. We only had 17. Now we have 49!
Thanks Mike!

| Indeed. I've always liked Charlie Chan, though I know the movies more than the OTR episodes. They used to play them on Saturday mornings. When they weren't playing Sherlock Holmes or Ma & Pa Kettle that is. lol. |

I haven't listened to any of the Charlie Chan radio shows, but I like the movies. I'm looking forward to giving them a listen. Did Sydney Toler play Charlie Chan for the radio as well?
I read somewhere that at one point, Jackie Chan was considering reviving that franchise by stepping into the title role. The name thing would be a great marketing gimmick and I think he could put an interesting spin on things with both is martial arts and comedic chops (pun intended). I can see the teaser trailer now, with the tagline:
Chan
Is
Chan! |

lol. There were actually 3 actors who played the role in the movies back in the day, and even Peter Ustinov tried the role on for size in later years if I recall. Key Luke (who played one of the sons) also tried it as an older man I believe. I have got the movies from the folder. They're good fun. Charles Middleton plays in one of them (he played Ming in the Flash Gordon serials). |
