I wrote a little today on my blog about auditions in OTR and why I don't like them.
I thought it might be fun to make a list of changes from auditions to the real show. Either character name changes or actor changes (if you know them) or anything else significant you noticed that has changed.
Nightbeat - Randy Stone was "Lucky" Stone. The music is slightly different but almost the same.
Father Knows Best - Family is Henderson rather than Anderson. Girl who played Kathy is different in audition than regular show.

| There were several changes in Gunsmoke from the audition to the first regular episode. A different actor played the Marshall and I think his first name changed as well. |

OH wow I had forgotten about that, but you are absolutely right.
Early on in the series too, Matt doesn't seem to really like Chester and many times shows his displeasure for Doc (who is portrayed as greedy and "wants" men to die to improve his business.)

Yep, the characters seem to mellow out a bit in their outlooks as the series progresses.

In the Our Miss Brooks audition, Shirley Booth (tv's Hazel) played the part eventually given to Eve Arden. Booth had been married to Ed Gardner of Duffy's Tavern and had been playing Miss Duffy before that - then the divorce came.
On the Life of Riley, the part of Riley was supposed to go to Groucho Marx as his brother Gummo created the series; I forget why but Groucho backed out and did other shows before eventually getting You Bet Your Life.
On the audition of Tales of the Texas Rangers, the part of Jace Pearson is played by Wally Cox; nawww, just kidding there

In Episode 01 of Nightbeat (not the Audition but the first show of the series) Randy Stone is Rudy Stone!
