I recently discovered Fibber McGee & Molly and The Great Gildersleeve.
I found out that next Tuesday Turner Classic Movies is running FM&M and GG movies. I will have to record them.

Here in Australia, one of the networks has a stock of black-and-white movies that they run through over an 18 month period on the late show, then they start again from the beginning.
They have those films and I've seen the Gildersleeve movies but haven't caught up with the Fibber ones yet. Quite entertaining if you're into the old shows, but I wonder what the non-fan makes of them. _________________ tuned in from down under |

I have heard some people say "if it is in black and white the would not watch it".
I like the older movies so I watch TCM a lot.

I like "The Great Gildersleeve" and "The Life Of Riley". I especially like Digby ("Digger") O'Dell and his "Well...I'd better be shoveling off". "Someone put a sign in my business establishment. I was furious"! "Why...what did the sign say?" "Use our convenient layaway plan". (He's an undertaker...friendly) .
I didn't know, before, that John Brown also played Riley's pal, Gillis. _________________ Gil |

John Brown also played on Ozzie and Harriet and Damon Runyan Theater. Great radio voice.

John Brown also played Irma's boyfriend on My Friend Irma.
He was very versatile. Hard to imagine he was Digby O'Dell. heh |

Irma's very "ditzy" and is always being manipulated by her boyfriend.
It's one of the few shows of that era where this happens. The female is usually the manipulator, generally tricking the male in buying her objects (a new fur, a new hat etc.) |
