Some of the programs have (EC) & (WC) as per a few examples below. What do these letters mean? Although the program numbers and dates are different the shows seem the be identical.

EC stands for East Coast version and WE for West Coast version. Many shows did two broadcasts usually on the same day. One for the western half of the country and one for the eastern half of the country. Jack Benny for example did an east and west coast broadcast. The broadcasts were transmitted to the various affiliates around the country through telephone lines. Escape was a series that was always changing the day of the week of It's broadcast during It's seven year run. It also was sustained most of the time, which means It was an unsponsored series(no commercials). For a brief period It was sponsored by Richfield Oil Co.,Ford Motor Co. and perhaps a couple of other companies.

Yep and some series started out just in a small listening area and later grew be very popular on the air waves. I believe the Lone Ranger was one such series. Some even got started almost by accident. Like the Shadow for example. He started out as just the announcer for the story of the evening but everyone wanted to hear his adventures (and buy the shadow magazine which didn't exist yet) so he became a radio icon though he wasn't meant to be. Some of the stories behind the OTR programs are almost as interesting as the programs themselves I think.
