I recently found an old cassette I forgot I had. It's an episode of "Mystery in the Air" (1947) starring Peter Lorre in "The Black Cat". It brought back memories of a real black cat I once knew. It lived a couple of doors down from me and used to hang out at my house a lot. It's real name was Socks, but I liked to call it "Pluto" and talk to it in a Peter Lorre voice, imitating his performance in this radio play. And like the cat in the radio play, it had a torn ear. The funny thing was that after a while, it got to where it wouldn't respond when I called "here, kitty kitty;" it would come to me only when I called "Pluuuuuuto!" in my best Peter Lorre voice. It was almost as if he enjoyed having this alternate, somewhat sinister persona.
Pluto was a really cool cat and I really missed him after I moved away from that house. If you'd like to hear this play, it's available for free at: http://otrcat.com/peter-lorre-collection-p-1721.html |
