OK Everyone,

What's your favorite mystery show and why?

Mine is CBS Radio Mystery Theater. I think the shows are well written and the anouncer (E.G. Marshall) has that certain something in his voice that just makes you want to listen to the show.

I also like Johnny Dollar, Gregory Hood and Box 13.

What's your favorite?

Brad

I love me some Johnny Dollar, but I am also fond of Nero Wolf and The Whistler.

Boston Blackie was my first taste of mysteries. Which suited me just fine.

The Whistler series is already on the site. I'll put up some Boston Blackie and Nero Wolf next.

Ditto Brad on the CBSRMT. I have also been getting some Suspense and Escape. I like both of them.

Try Box 13 and tell me what you think. Alan Ladd does a great job in this series.

I only recently started listening to the detective and mystery shows. What got me started is I ordered some grab bag cds from OTRCAT and one of them was some Suspense shows with mostly comedy actors and actresses playing the major roles. I really enjoyed the shows and have since listened to some CBSRMT. I like that a lot too. I have listened to some This is Your FBI and also Mr. District Attorney. I also enjoy Nightbeat, which is probably myhusband's favorite show.

Shirley,

Yes, Otrcat.com is a very good place to buy OTR disks. High sound quality and fast shipping. I've bought a lot of my shows from them over the years.

My favorite mystery is "Suspense", although I think it's really hard to choose! I also like CBSRMT for the more modern feel!

I guess if I was pinned down to one show it would be Philip Marlowe but just barely. So many others we like, and how the help pass the time on long car trips.

Five Minute Mysteries and Ellery Queen's Minute Mysteries

Both are great for during the week when I'm running errands all over town.

I can easily wait until the end of a mystery before I get out of the car . . .

I like them all but #1 for me has to be Sherlock Holmes with Basil and Nigel.
I love the old movies featuring them and I read the stories. But hands down listening to them is the best. read2

I am a big fan of CBS RMT but I also like Sam Spade, Dangerous Assingment, The Falcon, Inner Sanctum, Let George Do It and The Saint.
I have a huge collection of these shows and listen to them every night on a standard Creative mp3 player.
I am 66 years old and remember laying in bed while my dad listened to inner sanctum and the opening "creaking door" scared me so bad I had to throw the covers over my head. I also remember listening to Tom Mix and Bobby Benson of the B-Bar-B ranch.
Thank you for this Forum
Mike

I tend to agree. I bought the run of Gunsmoke from that site a few yrs back (long before I knew about sites like Mysteryshows.com and they do have a good selection and very good quality of product.

Welcome to the forum! If there is something you would like to listen to that isn't here, ask, and hopefully someone will be able to make it available.

Enjoy! Very Happy

I got a box set of "Suspense" tapes for christmas one year and started listening to them when I was doing body casts in plaster and needed to hold very still for long periods of time! Candy Matson is what won me over for good. I had Candy saying "Hello, Yukon 28209" on my outgoing voicemail message for some time. I keep hoping someone will find a hidden cache of these recordings since we have so few. Now I'm working my way through the Agatha Christie BBC stories, sooo good.

I love Nick Carter and now especially The Fatman. I am old enough to remember them on the air. I was a little young to understand the content so it is great to hear them now. I wonder if there are any more of the Fatman series? I think there are about 29 listed. Edcountry.

Welcome to our forum. I did a little research on the Fatman series. It looks like the disk vendors are only selling a 29 show set. I think that's all there is available at this time.
