I think the only Western I ever heard had something to do with the Texas Rangers. I should try the other ones.

So Gunsmoke is good? Anything else you would recommend?

(and OH MY I love The Rifleman. That is a great show!!)

Brad...oh, yes..."The Rifleman", with Chuck Conners and Johnny Crawford. I have an old LP that has the music theme (Herschel Burke Gilbert) for this show. It was a wonderful show!

I enjoy Gunsmoke, although I have to admit, the mental image of William Conrad (of Jake and the Fat Man fame) as Matt Dillon is a bit comical at times.

I am still new to all these great shows and I really enjoy the Gunsmoke Series, I have listened to about 10 shows so far and I can't wait to hear more. Matt Dillon has his hands full with what we'd call these days "a domestic" -- a woman discovers that her first husband didn't die at sea after all when he turns up in Dodge City.

Needless to say two husbands plus one wife equals trouble for all concerned.

The climax settles things in an unexpected but very human way.

My very first post. Anyway there's a little known western that's up to Gunsmoke's level. It's called "Luke Slaughter of Tombstone". It was created in the 1950's and had some really great radio acting, sound quality and scripts.

The only downside to this series is I believe they only made 14 episodes, and then the show was cancelled.
