I just put up some Charlie Chan shows on the home page. I wish I had a complete series but I think most of them are gone for good now.

I think that you already have these . . but the sound on these is positively awesome!

download, listen, enjoy . . I can't imagine that they even sounded this good back in 1936
considering the quality of the broadcasts and radios back then . . .

Wow! These are great! Thanks Victor. I'm a big Charlie Chan fan. I've got all 37 movies and I've formated them for the iPod screen so I can always have them with me. 320 x 240. Let my know if you want any and I'll share them out.
Thanks,

The file sizes on those episodes are rather large, but the resulting sound just plain knocks your socks off . . .
I may take you up on your offer at a latter date . . right now, I'm busy adding to my Grateful Dead live concert collection . . it stands at approximately 2575 right now (>4000 hours)
Victor
my favorite GD song is Dire Wolf with Jerry singing it . . . _________________

Always interested to see some Charlie Chan stuff. Will download some of those HQ episodes.
I have the original novels and a couple of the radio episodes, but haven't seen any of the movies.
And if you're a real Chan completist, I notice you can even read his Sunday comics strip at the Chan website

Mike,
Do you want to try some of the shows? They are mp4 files. You can put them on an ipod or play them in a small window with Quicktime on your computer. They are 320 x 240. They were made in the 40's so I think they must be in the public domain by now.
Let me know,

Brad...which versions of Charlie do you have...the ones with Sidney Toler or Warner Oland? I've always been partial to Sidney, myself...but Warner was before him. I never did like the last guy who played Charlie. I've been downloading LOTS of movies, lately, from various blogs. They usually come in the RAR format...as many as 8 to a movie. Would your's be complete, or would they be in this same format? I'd certainly like to have the Charlie Chan movies, if there is a way I might download them to my computer. Also...you can't beat that comic relief from Mantan Moreland I remember one movie Mantan was in...about Zombies...where Mantan said "Come on feet...let's move! _________________ Gil |

I got them originally in .avi format and converted them to .mp4 for the Ipod. Avi is smaller and you can watch them on the computer or convert them for your mobile device. Let me see if I still have the avi versions. I'll have to upload them to the members directory to keep the file stealing web robots away from them (uses up too much bandwidth). You have a membership anyway, so you'll be able to get to them. I'll let you know where I put them.

Brad...I couldn't find the OTR episodes of Charlie...where would I find these? Well, at least, they weren't on the list of programs. You said they were on the "home page"...do you have a link to that? Is it the same area that requires a username and password?
Yeah...after extracting those RAR files, I get one AVI _________________ Gil |

Here is a direct link to them:

OK, I started the Charlie Chan movies uploading into the members directory. There are 37 movies in the collection. I'll let the upload run all day today and overnight. It takes a while. The shows are .avi files and are about 95MB each.
Note: these are low res shows. 320x240. They look great on an Ipod or small window on your computer. If you blow them up to full screen they don't look so good.

Brad...well, that's better than having 8 RAR files, at 95mbs each . Of course, Charlie's movies aren't as large as some of those I've been downloading...probably around 80-90 minutes for each film. _________________ Gil |

Sounds interesting. I must have a go.
I haven't been listening to much stuff this month, because NaNoWriMo takes up a lot of my time. Trying to write a 50,000 word short novel in thirty days takes up most of your spare time.
